Pre-sessional courses
The pre-sessional courses are for international students who want to study at undergraduate level and have had an offer from a British university but:
▶ need to raise their IELTS or equivalent score
▶ want to improve their level of General and Academic English
▶ seek an introduction to Academic English and develop their study skills to succeed in UK Higher Education

Course content
▶ Academic vocabulary extension
▶ cademic reading skills and strategy
▶ Listening strategies for lectures and note-taking skills
▶ Grammar practice
▶ Guidance regarding the avoidance of plagiarism
▶ Skills in citing and referencing sources
▶ Presentations
▶ Seminar-style discussions
▶ Time management strategies
▶ Recognition and development of preferred learning styles
▶ Life in Britain today

10-week pre-sessional course
Dates: Compulsory 2 day Induction 18 June 2020, teaching 22 June – 28 August 2020 (arrive Wednesday 17 June 2020)
Cost: £4,930 (including accommodation) or £3,390 (excluding accommodation)
*Cost includes transport from Birmingham International airport, tuition, a mandatory two-day induction and a social programme.
Entry requirements: Undergraduate: IELTS score of 5.0 overall with no less than 4.5 in any element
Postgraduate: IELTS score of 5.5 overall with no less than 5.0 in any element
6-week pre-sessional course
Dates: Compulsory 2 day Induction 16 July 2020, teaching starts 20 July - 28 August 2020 (arrive Wednesday 15 July 2020)
Cost: £2,980 (including accommodation) or £2,050 (excluding accommodation)
*Cost includes transport from Birmingham International airport, tuition, a mandatory two-day induction and a social programme.
Entry requirements: Undergraduate: IELTS score of 5.5 overall with no less than 5.0 in any element
Postgraduate: IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any element
